Full explanation:

Broadly there are two categories of validity: internal and external.

Internal validity refers to the extent outcomes represents the research population of the study and are not due to study design or measurement error.

External validity refers to the extent the measure can be used with similar groups (or in similar settings).

Tests of validity include: face validity, construct validity, criterion validity, convergent validity, divergent validity, predictive validity, concurrent validity.
