Criterion validity is explored through the relationship of the measure with other established measures. Criterion validity is often divided into predictive validity (how well a measure predicts future outcomes) and concurrent validity (how well a new measure correlates with an existing established measure when both are taken at the same time).
Measurement: Correlation (e.g., Pearson’s r)
Interpretation:
• .1 to .3 = weak
• .4 to .6 = moderate
• .7 to .9 = strong
